Microsoft CRM and IBM Lotus Notes Domino seem to be taking completely different paths and if the company is Microsoft oriented - we see MS CRM, MS Exchange, MS SQL Server, SharePoint, etc. In the case of Lotus Domino - it is the opposite - Lotus is corporate information media and could technically play CRM role with internal messaging coming through Lotus Domino server. But the reality of modern corporations need more examples of where Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Lotus Domino should coexist in compromise. There are several reasons why corporation does not like to stick to one platform:
1 Balancing the number of platforms will be captured in a single vendor solution. Imagine that you put the eggs in one basket, and then it went to the trouble of baskets (lawsuit, bankruptcy, mismanagement, hostile takeover - to name a few in the life of the modern American corporation)
2 Legacy-dependence. If a corporation uses a product like Lotus Notes / Domino for 10 plus years - you can expect that the majority of documents stored in databases, Lotus. Just turn to the legacy database is a multi-million dollar project. And again - we can not accurately predict the future - who will win or lose - IBM or Microsoft - or might be connected
3 Procedures and flowcharts. Today, the corporation works and builds its business model around computer operating system, consider things such as user training, functional flowcharts / diagrams, reporting to investors, the company goes with suppliers and customers. And we dare say that these things are computer application platform dependent (even if designed in the heads of corporate leaders as abstract business processes - then were placed in the computer platform and has to stand on their own pluses and minuses)
With respect to these arguments and that more applications from Microsoft Business Solutions, and directly from our perspective and buyers, we have realized the connection, which allows Microsoft CRM use Lotus Domino email server with similar messaging functionality of Microsoft Exchange 2003 / 2000
Microsoft Dynamics CRM Exchange connector must be installed and the DLL based functionality is superceded by your own DLL, which communicates with the Lotus Domino server via Java Agents
